Birthstones - Modern and Traditional Birthstones

This list gives some common Western birthstones. There are many variations on these lists, and their content may vary within one country, with even greater differences between countries. Ancient lists were considerably different from the examples given here, partly because many stones were hard to obtain and also as the technology to cut some of the harder stones had not been developed.
